German Marquez is on the cusp of becoming the best pitcher in Rockies history. He might already be there, surpassing Ubaldo Jimenez. In his six seasons with the Rockies, Jimenez was 56-45, posted a 3.66 ERA, struck out 8.2 batters per nine innings, and walked 3.9 per nine. He finished third in the National League Cy Young voting in his spectacular 2010 season. In his six seasons with the Rockies, Marquez is 54-40 with a 4.22 ERA, 9.0 strikeouts per nine and 2.6 walks per nine. But here’s the thing: Marquez has the talent to be a great pitcher.
