By Kayla BranchStaff writer kbranch@oklahoman.comOver a quarter of Oklahoma residents are firmly under shelter-in-place orders after Oklahoma City and Tulsa issued decrees Saturday formally restricting residents from leaving their homes for anything but essentials.“Out of the nation’s (largest) 50 cities, Oklahoma City and Tulsa are now the 44th and 45th to take this step,” Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt said in a Facebook video Saturday.Holt said the order is simple — stay home except for the essentials.Police won’t stop people on the road, but a violation of the city order is punishable by up to six months in jail and a $750 fine, according to a news release from the city.The announcements came days after Gov.Read more on
