Denver is on its way to experiencing the least snowfall in recorded history, but don’t give up hope on fresh powder just yet. So far, the metro area has seen 3.2 inches of seasonal snowfall, which is measured from July until December. That’s about 14 percent of where it typically lands, which is 22.5 inches by the end of the year, National Weather Service meteorologist Kyle Fredin said. Currently, 1888 holds the record for the least snowfall when only 3.8 inches of snow graced the city, he said. There’s still half a month to go, though, and there’s a chance snow may accompany 20-degree weather when a cold front hits by the end of next week, Fredin said.
