Legendary Pictures is rumored to have a few action stars in mind for the main role of Detective Pikachu. According to That Hashtag Show, Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson are all allegedly among the studio's top choices to voice the titular character. However, none of the actors have taken any meetings yet about the role. Detective Pikachu will be directed by Rob Letterman (Goosebumps, Shark Tale, Monsters vs Aliens), with Marvel screenwriter Nicole Perlman and Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch writing the screenplay.
