District 47 will have two new leaders this upcoming school year. The Board of Education approved on Monday a new director of Dual Language and English Language Learner programs and an assistant principal for Hannah Beardsley Middle School. Kari Keith will lead the Dual Language and English Language Learner programs. “Kari has a tremendous amount of knowledge and best practices related to dual language and ELL,” Scott Kubelka, District 47 assistant superintendent of student learning, said in a statement. “She is student-focused and eager to collaborate and support the efforts of our staff as well as build upon quality programs that continue to be a source of pride for our district.” Keith has served as principal at Churchill Elementary in Glen Ellyn, as well as director of the English Language Learner program for Community Unit School District 200 in Wheaton. The D47 dual language program serves some 1,000 students district-wide. “I am looking forward to partnering with the staff and community of D47 to support and grow the learners of today to become leaders tomorrow through the Dual Language and English Language Learner programs,” Keith said in statement. The board also approved the appointment of Aaron Knoth as assistant principal at Hannah Beardsley Middle School. Knoth will replace Carolyn Stadlman, who was recently named the districts new director of math, science and STEM. Knoth will also oversee the district’s Title I and Title III summer school programs as principal. ”He brings strong instructional leadership experience, an enthusiastic 'can-do' attitude, and a commitment to innovation and student-centered learning to serve the HBMS community," said Cathy Alberth, principal at Hannah Beardsley, in a statement. Knoth has spent his 11-year education career in District 47. “I’ve spent my entire career in District 47 so I know where we’re headed,” Knoth said in a statement. District 47 could not immediately be reached for comment on their salaries or contracts.
