“Politics ain’t beanbag,” goes a famous axiom, but in this era of secretive “SuperPACS,” concealed contributors, hit mailings and all-limits-are-off spending, politics has become beanball. With no real rules anymore — thanks to the infamous 2010 Citizens United ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court — fouls get committed. More money means more dumb plays.
