The goal is to make two films, maybe more.” There is no indication whether Villeneuve meant making multiple books into films, such as following DUNE up with DUNE MESSIAH, or splitting the book into two films, but ThePlaylist.net is sagely leaning towards the latter option, citing Villeneuve’s 4 hour cut of BLADE RUNNER 2049. There is a time jump in the novel after Paul begins to lead the Fremen.
