Dutch Queen Gives Up Throne In Favor Of Son

Beatrix, queen of the Netherlands, addressed the nation on television and radio on Monday afternoon, announcing that she would abdicate the throne in favor of her son, Prince Willem-Alexander. He will take over the throne on April 30.
