EUREKA, Calif. (AP) — A moderate earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.7 has struck off the coast of Northern California. The U.S. Geological Survey reports the quake shook at 1:08 p.m. Wednesday about 40 miles southwest of Eureka. Lt. Wayne Hanson of the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office said no damage or injuries were immediately reported. Geological survey spokeswoman Leslie Gordon said the preliminary magnitude of 5.7 could change slightly. People reported feeling it as far away as Red Bluff, 159 miles to the east.
