Joining Pinewood Studios and Abu Dhabi, the tiny Irish island of Skelling Michael marks the third shooting location for Star Wars: Episode VII. According to local newspaper Kerry's Eye, shooting will take place at the end of August, and the island will be closed off from the public for three days. Skelling Michael is a UNESCO World Heritage site in the Atlantic Ocean, 7.2 miles of the coast of County Kerry. Fans speculate that the island's monastery would make for a perfect Jedi academy, run by Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). Speaking of Luke, actor Mark Hamill appeared at the Guardians of the Galaxy premiere in London, where he was asked by BBC about his return to the franchise in Episode VII, which he calls "unexpected" as he believed that Luke's story had (seemingly) already been told.
