Eu Parliament Calls For Ban On Caged Farming Practices

On Thursday, June 10, the European Parliament approved a report petitioning the European Commission to end caged farming of animals. The report also called on the commission to find ways to phase out forced feeding of ducks and geese to produce foie gras. The petition asked the commission to propose legislation that will phase out the use of caged animal farming in the EU, possibly by 2027. The proposal has been necessitated by a citizen’s initiative that drew over 1.4 million signatures.
