Everton Signs Striker Lukaku For Club-record $47m

LIVERPOOL, England (AP) — Everton has broken its transfer record to sign striker Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea for 28 million pounds ($47 million). The 21-year-old Belgium international is returning to Everton after scoring 16 goals in 33 appearances while on loan at Goodison Park last season. The transfer fee eclipses the 15 million pounds paid in 2008 for Lukaku's compatriot Marouane Fellaini, who was subsequently sold to Manchester United. Lukaku joined Chelsea in 2011 from Anderlecht but struggled to hold down a place in the team and also spent time on loan at West Bromwich Albion.
