NH police: 1 injured when pickup hit school bus SALEM, N. H. (AP) — Police say one student was injured when a pick-up truck collided with a school bus carrying 22 elementary school children in Salem, N. H. Police say when the bus stopped to let students off on Wednesday, the truck hit the back of the bus. The bus had minor damage with the truck had moderate to heavy damage. Police say one student was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Police say the driver of the truck, who was not injured, has been summonsed for following too close and defective equipment.

Brewer vetoes bill changing bail agents' rules PHOENIX (AP) — Gov. Jan Brewer has vetoed a bill that made numerous changes to state law governing bail agents, saying the changes would make it harder to regulate agents and allow them to pocket more money from clients. Brewer's Wednesday veto letter says one provision in HB2553 would allow bail bond agents to essentially write penalties into their contracts and collect them.

Obama's senior energy and climate adviser, Heather Zichal, said the plan would boost energy efficiency of appliances and buildings, expand renewable energy and use the Environmental Protection Agency's authority under the Clean Air Act to regulate heat-trapping pollution from coal-fired power plants. The plan, with details expected to be revealed in coming weeks, comes as Obama has been under increasing pressure from environmental groups and lawmakers from states harmed by Superstorm Sandy to cut pollution from existing power plants, the largest source of climate-altering gases. Several major environmental groups and states have threatened to sue the administration to force cuts to power plant emissions. The president needs to put the full force of his office behind new regulations that will truly curb greenhouse gas emissions. An orchestrated and well-publicized campaign to persuade Obama to reject the Keystone XL oil pipeline, which would carry oil extracted from tar sands in western Canada to refineries along the Texas Gulf Coast, appears to be an uphill battle.
