A contractual obligation that bars pharmacists from telling customers their co-payments are higher than the cost of their low-cost generic drugs is opposed by St. Louis-based Express Scripts, one of the nation's largest pharmacy benefit managers. Some drug-benefit managers stop pharmacies from telling customers it's cheaper to pay out of pocket and bypass insurance, because the extra money, referred to as a clawback, goes to the benefit managers, Bloomberg reports.
