With Federal Help, Nearly Two-thirds Of Pontiac's Blighted Homes Torn Down

There were 960 blighted residential properties in Pontiac in 2012 and while that number has been reduced significantly, the steps between identifying blight to demolition of a house can still take years. About 677 residential properties have been demolished in Pontiac since 2012 by a combination of partners including the city, through the federal Community Development Block Grant program, property owners, or by the Michigan Land Bank.
