CANNES, France -- In close to three decades of filmmaking, brothers Joel and Ethan Coen have shared a lot of looks. But with "Inside Llewyn Davis," which had its  premiere in Festival de Cannes competition Sunday, one particular glance said it all.

CANNES, France – On Sunday morning the sun finally came out on the Côte d’Azur --perhaps briefly, and accompanied by stiff winds – and soggy festival-goers finally had a hit movie to celebrate that did not involve Paris Hilton’s shoe collection. Joel and Ethan Coen’s “Inside Llewyn Davis,” which screened for the press late on Saturday and had its black-tie gala premiere on Sunday night, likely won’t reach American theaters until December, so it’s not yet time to write a full-length review. But this mysterious, satirical comedy-drama set in the Greenwich Village folk-music scene of the early 1960s finds the brothers at their richest and strangest, delivering a shaggy-dog parable about the elusive nature of artistic success that’s loaded with colorful supporting characters and pregnant with hidden possible meanings.Continue Reading

Will Christopher Nolan land the next Bond film? The Daily Mail reports that the "Inception" director is in "informal talks" to direct the next James Bond movie, stepping in to helm the camera after Sam Mendes decided not to make the follow-up to 'Skyfall.'

There's trouble near JupiterIt would seem that the genre of realistic space exploration sci-fi is in for a good year, what with Gravity on the way later and now Europa Report. At least, it’s staunchly realistic for the first chunk of this trailer, online over at Apple.With a much lower profile and likely a lower budget than Alfonso Cuaron’s starry night, Report uses a documentary-style format to follow a team of astronauts from Earth to Jupiter’s moon.With scientific data suggesting an ocean lurking beneath its icy surface and the faint promise of single-celled life, everyone is naturally excited. Europa Ventures, a private company, sends its team off to explore the place, but things go badly wrong when something nasty happens…With the likes of Sharlto Copley, Michael Nyqvist, Christian Camargo, Embeth Davidtz and Dan Fogler aboard, Europa Report looks like it could be a fun ride, and more along the lines of Moon than, say, Red Planet.The US gets this one on VOD June 27 before a theatrical release August 2. No word on a UK date just yet.    

And Supes goes head to head with Zod in new bannersAs we edge ever closer to the release of Man Of Steel, the publicity machine is gearing up into the barrage stage. US megastore chain Wal-Mart has struck a deal for early screenings of the movie and now here comes its promotional ideas, including a new behind-the-scenes featurette job with some fresh footage and banners showing Henry Cavill’s Kal-El and Michael “I WILL FIND HIM!” Shannon’s Zod racing towards each other in a grimace-off.We’re sure that by now you know Man Of Steel revisits Superman’s origin story, with birth parents Jor-El (Russell Crowe) and Lara Lor-Van (Ayelet Zurer) sending baby Kal-El off into space to avoid civil war and other strife on their home world of Krypton.Discovered upon landing by farm folk Jonathan (Kevin Costner) and Martha (Diane Lane) Kent, the newly named Clark grows up unaware of his origins, but troubled by feeling like an outsider. Especially given that he seems stronger, faster and just plain better than everyone around him. Once he learns the truth, he sets out to find his destiny, but General Zod is not far behind, looking to either recruit or punish our hero. Fight! Fight!
