Australian filmmaker John Hillcoat is a man famous for doing westerns set anywhere but the American Old West. From the 19th century Australian Outback in "The Proposition," to a post-apocalyptic future in "The Road," to a Prohibition-era bootlegger tale with "Lawless" - his films love classic archetypes of masculinity in all its ugly glory. His new film "Triple 9" explores a different genre again - this time the cop drama.
