Former Guard Sergeant Pleads Guilty In Phantom Recruitment Scheme

GREENEVILLE — A retired Tennessee National Guard sergeant has agreed to plead guilty to a federal wire fraud charge in connection to a scheme where he falsely obtained recruitment referral bonuses for soldiers to enlist in the U.S. military.Roger Franklin, of Elizabethton, appeared in U.S. District Court in Greeneville earlier this month to plead guilty to a one-count information charging him with wire fraud.
