Former Upstate New York County Employee Guilty In Theft

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — A former Monroe County employee has pleaded guilty to seven felony counts related to her theft of public money. Prosecutors say 42-year-old Stephanie Holtz will receive a six-month prison sentence if she pays back $16,000 by her Jan. 4 sentencing date. If not, the sentence could be six to 18 years. Holtz was the deputy registrar of the county's Office of Vital Records in the spring of 2014 when prosecutors say she altered computer records and records filed with the Finance Department. She was later fired.
