The annual mix of elevated language and accessible entertainment known as the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival this year returns to "As You Like It." Otherwise, most of the season's offerings are musicals, of course.

For the most part, Marvel's Age of Ultron tie-ins have had nothing to do with the ongoing series they spin out of, nor do they have much impact on the events of Age of Ultron itself. Uncanny Avengers #8AU is no different in terms of the latter, but as far as continuing the ongoing threads of Rick Remender's saga, this might as well be called Uncanny Avengers #9. Remender and co-writer Gerry Duggan place the focus of this issue on the Apocalypse Twins -- Uriel and Eimin. This issue is a prologue to "Ragnarok Now" in that the twins are still children and being tutored in the art of war by their "father," Kang. The writers cleverly use the Age of Ultron setting as the basis of Kang's newest lesson -- how misuse of time travel can have far-reaching effects. The premise also allows the writers to greatly flesh out the twins and develop them into more sympathetic figures. It becomes abundantly clear just how much the two have suffered under Kang's guidance, and that ultimately, they're only trying to protect the mutant race. Continue reading…

The prevailing opinion seems to be that Jonathan Hickman's Avengers saga has started to drag and lose momentum in recent months. And in some ways, it's tough to argue that fact. Lately, each new issue has examined another facet of  the worldwide garden sites and the recent White Event that has brought the New Universe and its heroes back into the spotlight.
