Gap Inc. is being countersued by giant retail landlord Simon Property Group LP, which claims that the retailer is "taking opportunistic advantage" of the Covid-19 pandemic to avoid making rent payments totaling $107 million. In a filing in Delaware Chancery Court reported by Bloomberg, Simon notes that Gap is not paying rent on some stores that have reopened following expiration of shutdown orders in various parts of the country.
