Errant squirrel causes Lewiston power outage More than 6,200 customers of Central Maine Power in Lewiston are in the dark Thursday, according to CMP officials.
As of 1 p.m., 6,216 customers had lost power, according to the utility.
There are 18,255 CMP customers in Lewiston.
“A squirrel got into one of our substations and caused some problems for himself and about 6,200 people in the Lewiston area,” said Gail Rice, a Central Maine Power Co. More

Small plane crashes into Kansas airport building, killing at least 2 WICHITA, Kan. – Officials say at least two people are dead after a small plane reported losing engine power and crashed into a building at a Kansas airport.
Wichita Fire Chief Ronald D. Blackwell says at least four other people were taken to a hospital and five more are unaccounted for after the Thursday morning crash at Mid-Continent Airport, from which huge plumes of black smoke could be seen for miles around the city.
Blackwell says only the pilot was on the plane and that both people confirmed dead were found inside the building. More
