The Georgia Supreme Court ruled unanimously Tuesday against county governments in a lawsuit accusing telephone companies of failing to collect 911 charges. Cobb and Gwinnett counties filed suit in late 2015 and early 2016 charging several phone companies, including BellSouth Telecommunications, with failing to collect more than $39 million in monthly 911 charges, a responsibility the General Assembly gave phone companies in the 1977 911 Act. The Austin, Texas, company said it made $1.13 billion from January through March compared with $2.51 billion in the same period a year ago. Investors and analysts were looking for some sign that Tesla will take steps to stem its stock’s slide this year and grow sales.
