Howard Silver held the podium, looked out at the Golden Empire Transit District's board of directors and CEO who were interviewing three candidates Tuesday afternoon for an open at-large position and said what did not need saying: There was no need for an introduction. But Silver, a GET board member for 30 years until this fall when he was removed by the Bakersfield City Council after a five-week-long GET employee strike, said he wanted to move forward.
