Republicans in Colorado’s sprawling 4th Congressional District on Thursday night chose former Parker Mayor Greg Lopez as their nominee to appear on the June 25 special election ballot to fill out the rest of former Rep. Ken Buck’s term.
Lopez, a conservative who ran unsuccessfully for Colorado governor in 2018 and 2022, has said publicly he won’t run in the district’s Republican primary election, which will be held on the same day.
PHOENIX — If Thursday night’s performance at Chase Field had been a Broadway play, the Rockies’ show would have closed after one performance. Before the reviews even came out.
That’s how bad opening night was for the Rockies, whose third-inning pratfall set a bushel of records and set the stage for a 16-1 loss to the defending National League champion Diamondbacks.
“One huge inning was the back-breaker,” manager Bud Black said.
If Thursday night was a Stanley Cup Final preview, sign Avs fans up.
Only with a different outcome.
New York beat Colorado 3-2 in a shootout at Ball Arena, giving the Rangers two extra-time wins over Colorado this year, in addition to sending the Avs to back-to-back losses for the first time in over a month.
Vincent Trocheck scored the game-winner in the shootout for the Rangers as the Avs were unable to find the net on their two shots.

For a Rockies’ offense that struggled to find its identity and produce some power last season, the test began Thursday night in the season-opener against Arizona right-hander Zac Gallen, one of the best pitchers in the majors.
BOULDER — What happens when The Deion Sanders Effect meets The Caitlin Clark Effect?
A bomb cyclone? A derecho? A black hole? Is Albany, with a metro population of 642,000, big enough to handle college sports’ two biggest TV phenomenons, converging on the banks of the Hudson River?
“The great thing about (Coach) Prime,” CU women’s basketball coach JR Payne reflected earlier this week, referencing the Buffs’ ubiquitous football icon, “besides all of the greatness that Prime brings with him, is that now the entire world is seeing what an incredible place the University of Colorado is.
“So, yeah, we love what we have here.
We already knew that Wisconsin Speaker Robin Vos is putting party before the people of his district, his state, his country or is own dignity by endorsing Trump despite Trump repeatedly shitting on him.
That said, don't expect Vos to appear in a Trump commercial anytime soon, not after what he said in an interview earlier this week:
Because again, this is where the policies that he believes in are more important than anything else.
