Last Week Tonight host John Oliver pulled no punches at a Center for Reproductive Rights gala this week, opening by welcoming the “nasty women—nasty, nasty, nasty… Some of the nastiest among us, I imagine,” referring to Donald Trump’s memorable attack on Hillary Clinton during the third debate.
As Saturday Night Live did before him, Oliver then launched into a takedown of Trump’s graphic description of a late-term abortion: (“In the ninth month, you can take the baby and rip the baby out of the womb of the mother just prior to the birth of the baby,” Trump said at the debate.)
“His discussion of late-term abortions showed no real understanding of how abortions work, no clear understanding of the basic biology of women’s bodies, and a very poor sense of grammar as well,” Oliver said scathingly of that description, as EW reports.
Elijah Wood did not play Harry Potter, okay? He starred in that other blockbuster movie franchise, The Lord of the Rings. Wood stopped by Conan on Wednesday night to try to set the record straight.
Raven-Symoné, who announced Thursday morning that she is leaving The View, will return to the Disney Channel to star in a spin-off of That’s So Raven, a show that shot her to fame for her portrayal of the psychic teenager Raven Baxter.
The new series, still untitled, will feature Raven as a divorced mother of two children, one of whom has inherited her psychic abilities.
“Raven’s brilliant style of fearless comedy was a driving force for Disney Channel’s success around the world,” Disney Channel’s Worldwide executive vice president Adam Bonnett said.
The always-provocative Miley Cyrus has been courting engagement rumors for months, thanks to the sparkly (non-edible) accessory on her ring finger and her continued coziness with former (and present) significant other Liam Hemsworth.
On Thursday’s Ellen Show, the host asked the Voice coach about that ring. And although Cyrus did not directly answer the question of whether or not she’s formally betrothed to the Hemsworth brother and Hunger Games actor—brushing right past Ellen’s congratulations—she did explain why wearing the “engagement ring” as Ellen called it can be a bit challenging for her sometimes.
“It’s very weird because this is like real jewelry and most of my jewelry is made out of gummy bears and cotton candy, and they don’t look that good together because they kind of mix up, so sometimes I replace it with an actual unicorn or a Looney Tune.
