EVERY year, like clockwork, swathes of humanity go through the same routine. On December 26th and January 1st, as the fog of cheese, chocolate oranges and champagne lifts, remorse creeps in. Online searches for “get fit” and “lose weight” surge (see chart). Health clubs of all shapes and sizes stand ready to respond.

Apple Inc. said that it removed Meta Platforms Inc.’s WhatsApp and Threads from its China apps store after an order from the country’s internet regulator, which said the services pose risks to the country’s security. Ibotta mints more than 150 milllionaires on its first day of trading

Ibotta, the Denver-based digital marketing and consumer rebate platform, raised $328 million for its investors and $198 million for itself in an initial public offering that outstripped expectations this week.
