Has 'the Stand' Locked In Matthew Mcconaughey As The Villain?

Three months after first reporting that Matthew McConaughey was being eyed to play the villainous Randall Flagg in The Stand, a new report from The Guardian reveals that Matthew McConaughey has been "tipped" for the role. We're not completely sure if that means Matthew McConaughey has officially signed on, or if he is in negotiations.This hasn't been officially confirmed as of yet, but landing a major star such as Matthew McConaughey falls in line with writer-director Josh Boone's statement made during a podcast last week, where he revealed that the cast is, "going to blow people's minds." The filmmaker also confirmed a June statement from author Stephen King, revealing that the author's 1152-page book will be adapted into four movies, after a single three-hour adaptation was originally planned.In the original novel, Randall Flagg is an evil tyrant who terrorizes survivors of a plague that has wiped out most of the American population.
