The Hawaii state attorney general’s office transferred $12.5 million into the state general fund after resolving lawsuits with several national credit card providers — including Chase, Citi, Bank of America, Discover, HSBC, Capital One and Barclays — for illegal practices involving marketing credit card protection plans. In 2012, the state sued the credit card companies to stop those practices.
