HORICON, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a Warren County fire chief was charged last week after engaging in a series of inappropriate text messages with a 15-year-old girl. The Glens Falls Post-Star reports (http://bit.ly/1MawP7d ) Horicon fire chief James Hayes was charged with endangering the welfare of a child following an investigation by the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation. State police say they were recently contacted by the girl's parents after they learned of text messages sent by the 55-year-old that were sexual in nature. There were no allegations of physical contact between Hayes and the girl. Warren County Fire Coordinator Brian LaFlure says Hayes has remained in his position as far as he knew.
