House Republicans' Border Flailing Drags on

Winning? House Republicans have apparently reached some kind of consensus on a border crisis bill, even though it won't accomplish anything other than having a vote. Multiple sources say that the leadership will propose language authored by Reps. John Carter (R-Texas) and Robert Aderholt (R-Ala.) to tighten a 2008 law that made it harder to deport children from countries other than Canada and Mexico.

When Zach Shrewsbury started campaigning, he was running against reactionary Democrat Joe Manchin, who has since announced he isn’t running for reelection.  At that point, another special interest, corporate-backed right-of-center Democrat, Glenn Elliott, jumped into the race against Shrewsbury. On Monday, as expected, Manchin endorsed Elliott. And if you want to see another senator just like Joe Manchin, Elliott’s the man.
