By Dave CatheyThe team from Humankind Hospitality joined a contingent of chefs from US Foods to do a kitchen take-over at the Homeless Alliance’s Westtown day shelter on Thursday.Music to the ears of kitchen manager Delbert Briggs, who oversees breakfast and lunch services five days a week for about 300 diners.Chef Ryan Parrott of Humankind (Frida Southwest, OSO on Paseo, Picasso Café, The Other Room) oversaw a menu of carne guisada over rice, black beans, cheesy potatoes, guacamole plus dessert that included apple upside-down cake and chocolate cake with help from US Foods kitchen crew Liz Howe, Dustin Bagnaro, Kyla Campbell, and Rob Johnson.I was handing out dessert at the end of the lunch line and can attest to the enthusiasm the menu produced.I’ll have more details about that visit and what’s going on this holiday season to support the 405’s homeless community later this month.It was great catching up with chef Lee Bennett, who recently joined the kitchen at Picasso’s.Read more on NewsOK.com
