By Matt Patterson, Staff WriterThe saga of two Asian elephants that were due to be transferred from the Woodland Park in Seattle to Oklahoma City Zoo became a little longer with the announcement the animals have been diverted to the San Diego Zoo, where they arrived safely Friday. The decision to divert Chai and Bamboo to San Diego was caused by snowy weather along the planned route, which was to take the caravan through Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas and finally, to Oklahoma. Parts of Colorado and Wyoming received heavy snow Thursday and Friday and poor weather conditions were expected to persist, Woodland Park Zoo mammal curator Martin Ramirez said.
