Iowa farmers have planted 97 percent of this year’s expected corn crop — three weeks ahead of last year and almost two weeks ahead of the five-year average, according to the weekly crop report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.Corn emergence was at 82 percent, an improvement of 20 percentage points from the previous week.
