He reportedly carried out the attack in retaliation against Israel for its actions in the embattled Gaza territory. Ullah was taken into custody shortly after the explosion went off, and three people sustained non-life threatening injuries. Akayed Ullah, the 27-year-old Brooklyn resident who attempted to carry out a suicide attack at New York City's busiest transit hub, chose the location because of its Christmas-themed posters, The New York Times reported on Monday. The explosion went off in the passageway linking the Port Authority and Times Square subway stations in midtown Manhattan.
