An Island Lake police sergeant has been fired amid a mayor's office investigation, Interim Police Chief Dan Palmer said. Palmer recommended on Jan. 15 that the village fire Sgt. Billy Dickerson, who was officially terminated Friday. Island Lake Mayor Charles Amrich swore in Palmer as the village's interim police chief in October.
