Japanese oil refiner Eneos Holdings has partnered with utility J-Power to set up Japan’s first Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) facility. The facility is expected to begin operations at the end of the decade, helping giant firms to cut down their carbon emissions. A site is targeted in western Japan with designs beginning next year and final financial investment decisions in 2026. The announcement comes at a time when the Japanese government is working on putting up structures for CCUS in the country.
