Citing no need for a formal hearing, the Ninth Court of Appeals announced last week that the court will review only legal documents in Calvin Walker's appeal of a district judge's decision that he stand trial in a state criminal court even though he was previously prosecuted for the same acts in federal court. Criminal prosecutors argued in a brief filed earlier this month that Walker should stand trial in district court because his plea agreement with the U.S.
