Host Jeff Sneider from Meet The Movie Press reported that Warner Bros. Pictures is reviving their live-action adaptation of "AKIRA" with "STAR TREK BEYOND" director Justin Lin being eyed to direct the film. The plan is for Warner Bros. to give the green-light to "SPACE JAM 2", which has Lin signed on to direct, and then convince him to commit to "AKIRA." The project has been in development for the better half of a decade with multiple directors signed on which included Albert Hughes (The Book of Eli) and Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows).The premise for the anime classic takes place in a dystopian future set in 21st century Tokyo, Japan which is now known as Neo-Tokyo.
