Mary Ellen Summerlin is filling the Kerrville city council seat left vacant by the death last month of Gary Stork, who was found shot with his wife at their home in an apparent murder-suicide. Summerlin, the wife of outgoing Schreiner University President Tim Summerlin, was appointed Thursday by a 3-0 vote by City Council to serve in the Place 3 post until May 2018.
