Lake County Recorder Becky Lynch is warning residents of a scam involving deed and land records. Lynch said landowners are receiving a notice in the mail stating that they must obtain a copy of their deeds and sometimes other real estate information at a cost of $79 to $89. She said it is "not necessary to pay this excessively high price for copies of important land documents such as deeds, mortgages, leases and liens.
