Lawmakers Reach Tentative Deal To Extend Payroll Tax Break

Congressional negotiators, to the dismay of some Republicans, announce an agreement in principle to continue the payroll tax break, extend jobless benefits and avert a pay cut for Medicare doctors.Despite discomfort in the Republican ranks, House and Senate negotiators reached a deal in principle early Thursday to extend a payroll tax break, continue unemployment benefits and ensure that Medicare doctors do not get a pay cut this year.
