The Senate Judiciary Committee’s top Democrat on Sunday called for a vote on President Barack Obama’s eventual nomination to fill the vacant spot on the Supreme Court after Justice Antonin Scalia’s death.“Let’s have a vote,” Sen. Patrick Leahy (Vt.) said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “Let’s have a debate on it.”Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has ruled out approving a high court replacement until after the presidential elections.Leahy, who said he spoke to the White House on Saturday night, wouldn’t say whether he would urge Obama to make a recess appointment.
