I must respond to the Dec. 8 letter, “Many provide help for homeless,” which referred to The Columbian’s story about the Proto-Cathedral of St. James the Greater (“Nourishing ministry of compassion,” Nov. 23). To say that the church’s weekly meal to the homeless “pales in comparison” to other area churches and organizations responding to such needs diminishes the efforts of that organization to provide what it can for those who need it.

New building for Pacific Northwest National Lab campus
RICHLAND — The federal government’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory will build a new $90 million energy sciences research building on its Richland campus. A contract to design and construct the building has been awarded to a Houston-based team of Harvey Cleary Builders and Kirksey Architecture. BURIEN — A woman was found dead and a second was injured as fire burned an apartment building in Burien.
