Palantir, the secretive and controversial big data company, announced on Monday that it had filed to go public. Since 2004, the company has been run by cofounder and CEO Alex Karp, an unusual and eccentric leader who pursued a Ph.D. in philosophy and invested on behalf of wealthy European clients before joining Palantir.
