By Caleb Bedillion Daily Journal TUPELO – A citywide overhaul of lights at public parks and buildings is moving along well and looks likely to finish ahead of schedule, city officials said. Tupelo contracted with Schneider Electric late last year at a cost of $5.2 million. The company will replace and upgrade the outdoor and indoor lighting at public athletic fields, park facilities and at municipal office buildings. Schneider recently completed its work at the Eastwood Softball Complex, which has four fields, and at Veterans Park, which also has four fields, said Tupelo Chief Operations Officer Don Lewis. Theron Nichols lighting was also recently completed, Lewis said. The company turns now to the soccer fields, 15 in all. “Soccer season is over so they’ve been starting work on those,” Lewis said. Work is also currently ongoing to change exterior lighting at City Hall.
