A House committee is likely to pass out legislation expanding the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, and protecting the Middle Fork-Snoqualmie River, on Wednesday after sitting on the bipartisan bill for more than three years. The legislation, cosponsored by U.S. Reps. Dave Reichert, R-Wash.,, and Suzan DelBene, D-Wash., would protect a wildland close to Seattle — the Pratt River valley east of North Bend — as well as the closest mountain valley to Puget Sound urban areas.
