At the Polk Street entrance to City Hall, where guests arriving at Thursday’s “Infinite Romance” San Francisco Ballet 2015 Opening Night Gala received their dinner-table assignments, check-in stations were decorated with floral arrangements by event designer Riccardo Benavides. Like the flowers that graced the dinner tables, they were balls of closely packed white flowers, hydrangeas or carnations, stylishly dotted with black-headed “buttons,” nipple-like gumdrop punctuations that looked like the velvety centers of anemones.
