A man is in custody after exchanging gunfire with police in the area of Berkshire Circle and Wakefield Drive in Carpentersville on Tuesday, according to a news release from the Carpentersville Police Department. At approximately 4:35 p.m., two Carpentersville officers approached an adult male brandishing a firearm, the release said.
