The crash occurred about 6:30 p.m. on Byron Highway and sent three vehicles careening off the roadway, according to the California Highway Patrol. Witnesses told CHP officers that the driver who was killed was in a Pontiac sedan that was heading south on Byron Highway at 60 mph and was weaving in and out of lanes, officials said. A 25-year-old man in a Toyota Camry driving behind the Impala swerved to avoid the crash and went off the roadway, smacking into a power pole and a concrete culvert, CHP officials said. The woman in the Impala, who was only identified as a Brentwood resident, was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
